Nice technique, but not very useful for most people. You need a high end table saw to make cuts precise enough for this to work. And if you can afford a multi-thousand dollar cabinet saw, why not just buy the proper triple chip saw blade that's designed specifically to cut melamine in a single pass?

Thank You! I was searching for ideas on how to add vibrant colors to match my color theme of burnt orange, yellow and sage green for a bunch of cutting boards a friend made me from my left over butcher block counters, and your video was great, also Thank you for the wax tips, I have oiled my counters 3 times now and still feeling they need something more and I am sure the wax will be the missing link. I am going to try to make my own plant based colored water.

Just to let people know, that if you work with a lot of Melamine like I do, it pays to buy a blade for cutting Melamine. I use a Forrest Duraline blade. It is expensive, but doesn't require a scoring pass. Just set your blade height, a make your cut. As long as your table saw is true, you won't get any tear out.

I am getting ready to cut up several slabs of “Pecan Wood” from a tree that my dad planted about 45+ yrs. ago…The tree had to be removed for property improvements…I had it professionally milled and it’s been in my shed for over 5 yrs. waiting for me to do something with it…I’ve decided to make all cutting boards with it…I am going to mix in some other hardwoods like the ones that you recommended…I also liked the idea for the finish that you recommended…I wrote it down and hope to use it…Thanks for your info…

The second cut can be a cut through the board since the blade is coming down on the melamine insteadvof pulling it off the board. So its two passes for cutting.
